Mt. Gretna Lake & Beach hires more than 40 part-time and seasonal employees to serve and protect of our guests during the busy summer season. Our primary job opportunities are:

Front Gate

Front Gate

First contact with our guests, this position meets and greets all arriving guests; collects daily admission charges; confirms membership status; provides information about the Lake and adjoining area. Must be poised and well-spoken with a positive friendly attitude. Minimum age is 18.

Snack Bar

Snack Bar

As directed by supervisor, this position prepares and serves snack bar items from snack bar window; calculates, collects and records payment for items; performs organizational and cleaning functions from written and oral instructions and from observing others. Position hours are adjusted throughout the season based on customer volume. Minimum age is 15.

Canoe Rental

Canoe & Beach Rental

This position assigns canoes and ensures that renters have adequate knowledge of the rules for safe boating, including instruction in basic paddling technique and ensures the presence of PFD's for all passengers. Minimum age requirement is 15.

Lifeguard

Lifeguard

Under supervision, this position accomplishes specialized work in protecting life, assisting in instructions, and assisting in the operation of the Lake swimming area; and performs related work as required. Lifeguards supervise swimming activities in and around the Lake to ensure that policies, rules and regulations are observed and enforced and that no hazard to safety is created; warns swimmers of improper activities or danger; enforces Lake regulations and water safety policies. All lifeguard applicants must possess current certification in American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, or YMCA Lifeguard, or Ellis & Associates Lifeguard Certification; First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer. Minimum age is 15.

Assistant Manager

Seeking assistant manager to assist with management of lake and beach operations to ensure the daily safety and enjoyment of our guest.

Facilities Include:

Waterfront swimming area
canoe and beach equipment rentals
snack bar and refreshment stand
front gate admissions office and guest services
catered and non catered private and corporate group outings
picnic grounds, sand and grass sunbathing beaches

Focus of the assistant manager will be helping our general manager maintain a wholesome recreational atmosphere at the Lake and Beach. We strive to provide our swimming and non-swimming guests with an exceptionally relaxing and enjoyable summertime experience. Our assistant manager will be instrumental in achieving this goal through his or her timely, appropriate, and sensitive interactions with out guests and staff. Compensation is on an hourly basis working 5 days per week including weekends. Hours of operation are from 11:30 am-6:30 pm.

Waterfront Supervisor

Seeking Waterfront Supervisor to supervise beach and swimming areas, both shallow and deep water. In this position he or she maintains a highly visible presence in these areas, being readily available to guests for questions, concerns, and first aid needs. Coordinating with the head lifeguard, our waterfront supervisor monitors the deployment and deportment of the life guard team as well as the courteous and safe performance of the canoe and tube rental staff. Additionally, the supervisor is aware of the general activity level and "tone" of the waterfront area with the intent of proactively intervening to promote water safety and prevent or defuse problems. Compensation is on an hourly basis working five days per week including weekends. Hours of operation are 11:30 am to 6:30pm

Snack Bar Supervisor

Seeking a Snack Bar Supervisor to oversee staff and operation of the snack bar and refreshment stand. No cooking ability needed; most food and drink items are prepackaged and self-served by our guests.

Duties include but are not limited to:

Ensure efficient, friendly operation of the snack bar.
Maintain clean food service, check out, and dining areas.
Oversee opening and closing of the snack bar each day.
Ensure that proper food handling and cleaning procedures are followed.

Hours of operation are 11:30 am until 6:30 pm.
Work five days per week, which includes weekends.
Compensation is on an hourly basis.
Current Pennsylvania Food Employee Certification desirable, but not required.
